Grace Kelemanik and Amy Lucenta have extensive K-12 mathematics experience with a focus on developing mathematical thinking in all students, particularly in historically marginalized students. As former classroom teachers, coaches, and pre-service educators, they support teachers, districts, and educational collaborative organizations to transition their curriculum and pedagogy to reflect current mathematics education research through professional development and coaching. Grace and Amy are co-authors of Routines for Reasoning: Fostering Mathematical Practices in All Students and Teaching for Thinking: Fostering Teaching Practices through Reasoning Routines. Grace and Amy customize experiences, integrating resources with school and district goals that coalesce into robust learning experiences for teachers and transfer into rich learning for students.

Their work provides teachers and districts with practical strategies and structures to improve student learning and to build capacities for propagating the work through existing district-based learning structures.

Based on the needs of participants, we highlight varying aspects of teaching and learning. Some of them include:
  • Supporting students who struggle in math, particularly ELLS and SWLDS
  • Leveraging Instructional Routines to enhance classroom practices and pedagogies
  • Content Coaching through Instructional Routines
  • We work into the learning structures that exist in the district.
