Capturing Quantities is an instructional routine designed to focus students’ attention on important quantities and relationships in problem situations. The goal of the routine is to develop students’ ability to reason abstractly and quantitatively, math practice 2.

We’ve provided a word copy of the planner so that you may download and print it, or type right into it. The powerpoint slides may be customized for a specific task by inserting images and refining the prompts. And, finally, we’ll continue to update the tasks section, and hope you’ll comment on your own experiences with them, and upload artifacts from your classroom.
